An idea is one thing. Turning it into something real is another.
Collection 001 started with a lot of looking. Through archives, old paintings, drawings and works we came across by chance. There wasn't a checklist for what belonged. If something made us stop, look again, or question why we hadn't seen it before, we kept it close.
Slowly, a collection began to appear.
Some works were immediate. Others took time. Many didn't make it at all. The more we looked, the clearer it became that we weren't searching for pieces that matched. We were searching for works that could stand on their own and still belong together.
Eventually, fifteen remained.
Different artists. Different periods. Different subjects and different ways of seeing. Portraits beside studies of the body. Quiet interiors beside bold figures. Familiar works beside things that felt almost forgotten.
We called the collection Les Trouvailles — The Finds.
The name came naturally. Because that is what the collection became: a record of things we found and decided were worth another look.
Collection 001 isn't meant to define everything Maison Niche will become. The collections that follow may look completely different. That is part of the idea.
This is simply where we chose to begin.
