The Work

A hammer thrower is caught at the moment before release, his body compressed into a powerful diagonal while the weight extends outward on its wire. The limited palette of red, blue, cream and black gives the image the directness of early twentieth-century sporting graphics. Strength is communicated less through detail than through stance, balance and the tension of the composition.
